Spooktacular event for Minyip Halloween

MINYIP put on a “spooktacular” Halloween event on Wednesday with children and adults alike dressing up.

The Minyip Hall was decked out in spooky decorations by the Minyip Progress Association, Lions Club and hall committee.

Lions Club committee member Dale Maggs said dozens of children came dressed in their best costumes, while adults also took the time to dress up as witches .

“It was a terrific night and we would like to thank the sponsors Yarriambiack Shire and Minyip Lions Club for supporting the event,” Mr Maggs said.

This was the first Halloween event organised by the Minyip Lions Club with the hopes of another next year.

Artwork and decorations were created by Russell Connelly and the hall committee, setting the scene for the evening.

“Thank you to them for the artwork and hard work setting up the hall,” he said.

Mr Maggs said it was the perfect setting to give farmers a night to discuss their farming issues and have a good time before they get stuck into the next season.

“The adults and the children went to a great deal of effort to make their make up and costumes scary and horrific,” Mr Maggs said.

The event was catered for by the Minyip Hotel and Emma’s Cafe, while Sebastian and Taylor Maggs provided the tunes to keep everyone up and dancing.

“I think the highlight of the night was definitely the Limbo,” he said.

Spider drinks from Spiderman “Don Orr”, were also favourite for both young and old.

“It was a great night and we look forward to next year’s event,” Mr Maggs said.
