Local knowledge helping home seekers

NORTH West Real Estate has been helping people find their home since 2008.

Director and Sales Agent John Hadley has himself been in the real estate business since 2001 and has seen the industry grow.

He now employs six team members to provide local expertise to the district.

In the sales department Mr Hadley is joined by Robert Lehmann; in the property management team is Fiona Knight, Christine Morrow and Peaches Landt; while Lorraine Sleep heads up the reception desk.

The team covers sales and property management across a large area from Rupanyup to Woomleang and Nhill to Charlton encompassing much of the Wimmera Mallee.

Mr Hadley said he became a part of the real estate industry after working for 14 years in the supermarket industry and deciding to do an online course in his spare time.

“When you do the course you are put onto a registry and it was a Horsham agent who contacted me offering a job,” Mr Hadley said.

Mr Hadley partnered with Horsham Real Estate and then in 2016 became sole director of North West Real Estate, operating out of Warracknabeal, in Scott-st.

With coronavirus restrictions in place, the business is still operating but has had to close its shop front to limit contact.

“I wouldn’t say we are business as usual, because we aren’t, but people still need to work behind the scenes. If someone has sold their home and are looking for a new place or if someone is about to start a new job in the area, they need somewhere to live,” Mr Hadley said

To keep their staff and customers safe, while still implementing their services, they have a number of alternative options to help people find their home.

“We can still be contacted by phone or email. We have moved auctions to private sales and we are always mindful of contact with people,” he said.

Other practices include ad hoc online video walk throughs of available properties, drone footage and floor plans are being created for listed properties.

“These will give buyers a good indication of the house they are looking at,” Mr Haldey said.

“We are still working behind the scenes but it’s an ever changing environment at the moment.”

Mr Hadley said there are many wonderful benefits to living in north west Victoria from the great spaces, great house prices and community spirit the district has.

“This is one of the most affordable pockets of Australia. Here you go to a park and you have all the space you need.

“I speak to other agents and they spend hours in traffic every day. For me it’s a three minute drive to and from work. I wouldn’t live anywhere else,” he said.
