Residents encouraged to share the love

DISTRICT residents are looking out for those in need with social media groups popping up to share ideas to help those in need.

The idea has spread to Horsham and Warracknabeal and other surrounding areas through “Love your Neighbour”.

Warracknabeal resident Mel Jefferies said she wanted to do something to help those vulnerable in the community.

“I started the page on Tuesday I think and we already have 60 members. People are really embracing the idea,” Mrs Jefferies said.

Mrs Jefferies said that members are able to offer items they have in excess to those who have missed out as well as to ask or offer support.

Group members have been offering their excess items, ideas to help support local businesses, and updating the community when items are in stock.

“We shared to the page with permission a questionaire for people to share with their neighbours,” she said.

The questionaire offers support including running errands, picking up groceries, sharing supplies, calling for a chat, walking pets or other help.

Mrs Jefferies said residents are welcome to give her a call if they need support. She can be contacted on 0408 208 098.

Those wishing to share their support can find the group on facebook at Love Your Neighbour - Warracknabeal - COVID 19 help.
