Tri-State games a success for Woodbine athletes

WARRACKNABEAL had plenty of representation at this year’s Tri-State games, with 16 avid athletes participating and tasting glorious success.

Sporting two teams, the athletes made the long trip to Port Adelaide for a week long showcasing of great sporting talent.

The Tri-State games, which were held at the Port Adelaide Enfield from November 10 till 15, saw over 350 athletes from various regions around Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales congregate to participate in a wide array of sporting activities.

“All the Warracknabeal teams and athletes did extremely well”, Jo Tobias said.

Ms Tobias accompanied the athletes to Port Adelaide alongside other dedicated volunteers of the Woodbine, all of which are to be praised for supporting the athletes.

“We had five new athletes join the two Warracknabeal teams this year, all of which were very excited”, Ms Tobias continued.

The Warracknabeal teams collected plenty of accolades over the week, with the teams acquiring 15 gold medals, 16 silvers, 12 bronze medals and there were also 21 personal bests set by the Warracknabeal athletes.

The Warracknabeal teams were also accompanied by one Horsham team from the Horsham Base Services group, of which their results will be published at a later date.

The Woodbine Group would like to extend their thanks to the sponsors that supported all the athletes at this year’s games.

Liersch Engineering, Peter Martin, The Rotary Club of Warracknabeal, Graeme Donahue Express Rollers, The Bentley Group and The Creekside Hotel are all to be commended for their generosity in supporting the Warracknabeal athletes’ success over the Tri-State week.

Woodbine athletes will have to wait another year for the opportunity to flex their sporting prowess again, but rest assured they will see the same success again as they achieved this year.
