Taylor’s Palace Hotel ready for customers

TAYLOR’S Palace Hotel, Warracknabeal will open its doors to the public this Friday.

After over eight years, the Warracknabeal establishment will be welcoming guests again, with a fresh new look and new owners.

The hotel was scheduled to be open before Christmas but licensing meant the business owners Des and Jenny Taylor had to wait a little longer to share their new social venue with the community.

Taylor’s Palace Hotel grand opening will be this Saturday with Damian Cutler performing at 9pm for those keen to share the celebration.

Renovations of the historic establishment has been extensive with local tradesmen working tirelessly to bring Taylor’s Palace up to standard and beyond.

Des and his brother Robbie completed most of the renovations themselves, putting their heart and soul into the build.

Mr Taylor said they will have 10 beers on tap and wine available for the opening, as well as bottled beers, soft drinks and nibbles will be provided.

Renovations to the building include new bi-fold windows looking out onto Scott-st, with polished Red Gum benches, wine barrels also topped with Red Gum throughout the establishment, as well as new walkways through the bistro to the bar.

Colourful murals painted by family friend Lucy Alexander have been painted within the ladies toilet, providing a pop of colour and a good photo opportunity.

Other additions include new trophy cabinets, local sporting memorabilia, new shelving behind the bar, new lighting, and new pool and dart areas.

Mrs Taylor said they are expecting visitors from across Australia for the official opening.

“We have people coming from Queensland, Adelaide, Melbourne, all locals coming back,” Mrs Taylor said.

Renovations are still underway with big plans for the budding business.

“The kitchen and lodging is still being renovated at the moment,” Mr Taylor said.

“We have had so many people knock on the doors looking for accommodation, it all takes time. We hope to have it finished by Easter but we will see,” he said.

“It has been a big team effort, its taken a while but we finally got there,” he said.

Taylor’s Palace Hotel will officially open the doors at 11am on Friday and invite residents to come share the celebrations this weekend.
