The Horsham Croquet Club celebrated its centenary celebrations with dozens of current and past members over the weekend.

More than 60 members attended the milestone event from various parts of Victoria in the clubhouse at William Guilfoyle Drive on Saturday, April 29.

All current members of the club gave displayed a lovely appearance by dressing in 1920s-era attire.

Main guest Horsham Rural City Council mayor Robyn Gulline, Victorian Croquet Association president Kate Patric, Wimmera Croquet Association president Charles Rees and Horsham Croquet Club president Donna Frost spoke at the event.

Iris Williams, a club life member, sliced the 100th birthday cake as the crowd cheered loudly.

Horsham Croquet Club president Donna Frost said, "We all had a wonderful and spectacular party."

“The event was fantastic, especially for the older participants who were even more entertained by seeing their old club mates,” she said.

“All of the current members actually put some effort into their 1920s-inspired outfits. Some created it using various components, while others borrowed from friends.

“We all watched old videos, played croquet, made some new connections and later enjoyed the afternoon tea.

“I appreciated the girls for preparing the afternoon tea and thanked everyone for coming.

“About 45 of us had dinner at the Glen Logan restaurant in the evening.”

The club was founded in April 1923, and a new clubhouse, which it shares with the Horsham Lawn Tennis Club, was built in 1976.

The club is located on William Guilfoyle Drive, Horsham, between Horsham Botanical Gardens and the Lawn Tennis Club, near the river, southern end of Firebrace St.
