A roof over their heads
It's not only humans who can find themselves homeless after a particularly destructive bushfire has roared through – some of our smallest wildlife species also need temporary housing.

When the fires that threatened communities including Dimboola raced across Little Desert National Park in January they razed important habitat for small reptiles such as the shingleback lizard, leaving them exposed to hungry predators and the extremes of heat and cold.
How can we help?
Householders and tradespeople are being asked to check their premises for surplus roofing tiles.
Tiles are being distributed across the park by Parks Victoria officers to provide safe shelter for vulnerable wildlife.
Donations of any quantity can be dropped off at Parks Victoria's Little Desert National Park work centre at 127 Nursery Road, Wail, between 9am and 3pm on weekdays.
The appeal has a target of 200 tiles – enough to serve as cover and refuge for little ground-dwellers while their natural environment regenerates.
