RSPCA Victoria Inspectors seized 17 cats, two roosters, and one horse from an Ararat property on Wednesday, September 16.
After receiving a report of animal cruelty from a member of the public, inspectors found 17 cats in poor living conditions.
They immediately took them to an RSPCA Victoria shelter for a veterinary assessment.
They also seized two roosters and a horse from the property.
This seizure is the fifth time this individual has allegedly breached a court order limiting the number of animals in their care, and the County Court of Victoria has disqualified them for life from owning or being in charge of more than five cats.
RSPCA Victoria has removed more than 400 animals from this repeat animal cruelty offender in the last decade.
RSPCA Victoria Chief Inspector Michelle Green said the RSPCA takes breaches of banning orders seriously.
“Breaching court-ordered bans from owning or being in charge of animals is a serious offence,” Chief Inspector Green said.
“RSPCA Victoria Inspectors will always respond to reports of suspected animal cruelty, and we’re very grateful for the community’s support for our mission.
“I am very proud of our Inspectors and their tremendous efforts in coordinating what was a difficult operation.
“We will continue to hold people accountable who blatantly breach their banning orders from keeping animals, and we will act when needed to protect animals from cruelty.”
