Const Martin comes from the south-east of Melbourne, having previously worked as a protective service officer for nine years.

"I'll be here for 18 months," he said.

Residing in Horsham, Const Martin makes the commute to Warracknabeal to serve the community and beyond.

"I think it'll be a good experience," he said.

"Working in metro you're one in a thousand and can blend in, whereas here everyone knows you.

"It's very different."

He said he had family working on a farm in the area so he thought "why not".

Outside of the demanding job, Const Martin enjoys going to the gym and the movies and spending time outdoors.

"I used to do martial arts and I'm thinking of picking that up again," he said.

When asked how he thought the job was going so far, he said, "It's definitely a learning curve.

"The people here are great and have been very supportive," Const Martin said.

"I may look scary but I promise I'm a nice guy."

Next time you see Const Martin around town, give him a wave and say hello.
