Faith Biddle and Maggie Astbury, formerly of the Mininera & District Netball Association 2024 grand final teams of Ararat Eagles and Tatyoon Hawks, respectively, showed why they were highly coveted recruits during the off-season.

Biddle and Astbury's exceptional performance was evident from the start, as they capitalized on their opportunities to give their team a commanding 13-goal lead at quarter time.

That lead was eaten into marginally by half time, Ararat 29, Stawell 20, but a 30 to 19 goal final half secured Ararat the win, 59 to 39.

Astbury and Biddle were the driving force behind Ararat's goal-scoring, with Astbury netting 28 goals and Biddle not far behind with 27.

On the Stawell side, Ayva Mitchell led the goal tally with 32, supported by Jemma Clarkson with seven.

Better players for Ararat were Biddle and Goal Keeper Laney McLoughlan, while no best on court were named for Stawell.
