Residents voiced their concerns in September last year over the health of the creek as thick weeds and sediment continued to mount in their section.

Alan Smith, who lives on Asquith Reserve, said households received a letter from council CEO Tammy Smith informing them of the commencement of the works.

"We are very pleased to see it happening," he said.

The initial scope of the works were developed in late 2023 to early 2024 and did not include Asquith Reserve as it was primarily focused on cleaning out the sediment pond on Wood Street.

Council worked closely with Wimmera Catchment Management Authority (CMA) who became successful in receiving more funding to extend the works.

Mr Smith expressed his thanks towards Ms Smith who helped the community to get the works extended to their section of the creek.

"It looks very good," Mr Smith said.

"Hopefully they can keep on top of it and manage it so it doesn't get bad again."

Sediment and weed removal works from Wood Street sediment pond to Werrigar Street are scheduled to be completed by the end of the week.
