Big rigs bring joy to teen truck fan
Xander Purches is a small-town teen with a big passion for photography.

Xander, 16, from Horsham, has amassed just under 5000 followers on Facebook - an achievement that has come as a surprise to him.
"I’ve only been doing it for about 18 months," Xander said.
"I started by taking photos on my phone and then Dad and Mum bought me a camera for my birthday."
For Xander, photography and trucks go hand in hand.
"It all started with trucks," he said.
"I’m pretty obsessed with them, especially a Kenworth."
Using a Canon EOS3000D, Xander said he loved putting a smile on the drivers' faces.
"It makes their day," he explained.
"I enjoy seeing all the different types of trucks and their loads."
Xaver said his favourite photo was of Land Transport’s “Ziyah”, captured at Dahlen Silos.
"I can get a good photo out there when it’s a roadtrain," he added.
As for his favourite spot to capture trucks, Xaver said it depended on the time, which affected the lighting, but all in all, when the lighting was right, Dahlen Silos was his place.
Xander's work was published recently in "Truckin' Life", which he said thad been the highlight of his passion, along with meeting Outback Trucker's star "Yogi".
As for the future, Xander said he hoped he would have time to continue with his hobby but admitted it might be a challenge as he was planning to commence an apprenticeship as a heavy diesel mechanic in the future so he could work on trucks.
