Joke of the week
A policeman was being cross examined by a defence attorney during a felony trial. The lawyer was trying to undermine the police officer’s credibility.
The lawyer said, “Officer did you see my client fleeing the scene?”
“No sir,” said the officer, “but I subsequently observed a person matching the description of the offender running several blocks away.”
The lawyer asked, “Who provided the description?”
The officer said, “The officer who attended the scene.”
The lawyer said, “Do you trust the words of your fellow officer?”
The officer said, “Yes sir, with my life.”
The lawyer said, “With your life? Let me ask you then, probably at your workplace you have a room where you lock your personal items and clothing away in a cupboard?”
“Yes sir, we do,” said the officer.
“And this is always locked?” said the lawyer.
“Yes sir, most definitely, always,” said the officer.
The lawyer then said, “Therefore you trust your work colleague with your life but you find it necessary to lock your own locker in case your colleagues pinch your items. Why?”
The police officer said, “You see sir, we share the building with the court complex and therefore sometimes lawyers walk through the locker room. That is the reason we lock things away.”
