Ararat-raised Sarah Blizzard is currently in Europe competing against the best bobsleigh athletes in the world in an attempt to qualify as part of the Australian team for next year's Olympics.
After sharing her story of growing up in the region with Wimmera Mallee News, along with her pathway to chasing her dreams of being a bobsleigh Olympic athlete, Blizzard agreed to make a monthly contribution to keep our readers informed on what she's up to.
Here's what she has been doing over the past month:
This last month has been a lot of quality training with my coach on push tracks as well as regular training in the gym and on the athletics track.
There’s also been a lot of last-minute organisation.
Last week we had our first round of push testing to help determine which members of the team will be on season and racing which races.
All my girls did a great job.
It went really well and I’m excited to see how it transfers to the bobsleigh track.
We are about to have our second round of testing and then we leave for Lillehammer in Norway, where we do our first bobsleigh runs for the season.
In other news, we also got a new sponsor for the season: Morse Building Consultancy.
This is a big help towards the cost of the season and ensures we have some good equipment for such an important year.
