Bombers power to third consecutive victory
Noradjuha Quantong powered to another big win, defeating the Swifts by 21 goals at Quantong Recreation Reserve in round 15 of the Horsham District Football Netball League.
It was a fast opening quarter, with the Bombers leading by eight goals at quarter-time. They dominated in the second, extending the margin to nine goals at half-time.
They came out of the blocks after half-time firing, shooting 13 goals to seven to lead by 15 at the last break.
They scored another 12 goals to six in the last quarter to win 53 to 32.
Shannon Couch was outstanding up front, scoring 39 goals, and Brooke Pay was excellent in goal defence, limiting Rebekkah Seeary to 22 goals. Jayne Tucker was also outstanding in attack for the Bombers.
Edwina Flakemore and Lisa Monaghan were the two best for the Swifts at goal defence and centre, respectively.
The Cougars scored 10 goals to eight to lead by two at quarter-time before a great second quarter to the Panthers saw them lead by two at half-time.
The Panthers slowly gained ground in a tight third quarter, extending the margin to six points at the last break.
The Cougars didn't give up in the last, but the Panthers showed their class, running out 53 to 35 point winners.
Zanaiya Bergen was brilliant in attack for the Panthers, shooting 37 goals, and Victoria Taylor was again outstanding in goal defense.
Blair Burke scored 25 goals for the Cougars, with Lauren Brown sensational at wing defense and Nikki Hawker excellent in attack.
Rams continue late-season form.
Natimuk has continued their late-season form with another victory, a 17-goal win over Harrow Balmoral at Balmoral Recreation Reserve in round 15 of the Horsham District Football Netball League.
It was a tight first quarter, with neither team giving an inch. The Rams led by two points at quarter-time, 8-6, in a low-scoring encounter.
The Rams started to dominate in the second quarter, shooting 15 goals to eight to extend their lead to nine points at the main break.
They restricted the Southern Roos to six goals in the third quarter and added another 13 themselves, leading by 16 points at the last break.
It was a formality in the last. Despite Harrow taking it up to them, the Rams ran away 46 to 29 goal winners.
Emma Uebergang starred again up forward, scoring 33 goals, while Mayci Porter was their other best player, alongside Danielle Hanson, who shot 13 goals.
Rori Mason and Megan Little were the best players for the Southern Roos. Tori Dunstan and Tara McIntyre both scored 12 goals a piece.
Rams coach Danielle Hanson said the Southern Roos put up a tremendous fight and highlighted Mayci Porter and Emma Uebergang.
"They definitely made us work for it throughout the whole game. It took us a bit to get our game and momentum going, and once we did that, we were able to pull away," Hanson said.
"Mayci has owned wing attack this year and drives to the pocket and not the ring. She is quick to get away from her opponent and has smashed it in there.
"Emma is improving every week and is killing it in attack and is having a red hot crack, which is good to see."
Hanson is thrilled with how the girls are closing out the year. With two games to play, another win is possible.
"I'm very proud of the girls, and I hope they are proud of themselves, too," Hanson said.
"You can see the improvement every week. Our aim was to finish strong and we are happy with how the season is finishing.
"Hopefully, everyone stays around, and we keep building on our strength and just get stronger and stronger."
Lotus Martin's 45 goals lead Kalkee to victory.
Kalkee's Lotus Martin put on a show in the goal ring, scoring 45 goals as the Kees defeated Pimpinio by 33 goals at Kalkee Recreation Reserve.
The Kees got off to a fast start, leading by 10 goals at quarter-time and extending the lead to 18 at the main break.
The third quarter was massive for the Kees, as they scored 18 goals to four to lead by 32 goals at three-quarter time.
The Tigers fought out the match in the last, sticking with the Kees, scoring 13 goals, but it was the Kees scoring 14 to run out 61 to 28 winners.
Clair McDonald was excellent in goal defense for the Kees, with Penny Fisher sensational through the midcourt. Steph Runciman played well as goalkeeper for the Tigers, with Emily Hannan their best through the midcourt.
Cougars bring the heat to the Panthers.
At Kaniva Recreation Reserve, Rupanyup battled hard in their win against Kaniva Leeor, with the home team bringing it to one of the premiership contenders for three quarters.
