Bon Bon Cafe windows

A little bit of the provenance of the window wraps in the old, unused shops on Austin Street.

The idea was presented to the Hopetoun Progress Committee in 2022, when government funding was available to enhance the streets.

Tree planting, new disposal bins, signs and window wraps all improved the look of the Austin and Lascelles St precinct.

Hopefully, in the future, with more funding and access to unused shop windows, more historical photos that relate to the shop’s history can be displayed.

However, a big thank you to the current owners of the Bon Bon, who have allowed the windows to be used to showcase the former life of this memorable milk bar.

An icon of Hopetoun.

The photos bring back many memories for young and old.
