Bryce powers to stableford win

WARRACKNABEAL Golf Club hosted a stableford event on Saturday where a strong field assembled in pleasant conditions for golf.

Sponsored by Steve Greenwood and John Barbetti, winner in A Grade was Tim Bryce (hcp 15) who enjoyed a strong round to finish with 39 points and finish ahead of sponsor Greenwood (16) who scored 37 points for the day.

Winner of B Grade was Jamie Weston (27) with 33 points, winning from Brett Allott (28) on a countback, also with 33 points.

Good scores for the day came from Terry Sanders, who continued his good form with 36 points, while Chris Surridge returned for 35 points and Paul Norris scored 33 points.

In the ladies stableford, Kerry Oulton (28) claimed the win with a powerful 39 points, finishing ahead of Wendy Hewitt (12) who finished with 37 points.

Nearest the pin second shot ninth hole was taken out by Ash Purdue. Closest on the fifth hole was Ryan Smith and Sue Sanford, on the seventh hole was Ash Purdue and Wendy Hewitt and on the 13th hole was C. Powell and Casey Phelan.

Thursday’s Palace Hotel Meal Run was taken out by Paul Norris who finished the 18 holes with 39 points.

Norris claimed both the front and back nine holes with 18 and 21 points respectively. Other good scores came from Ron Thouliss with 18 points on the front nine and Terry Sanders with 19 points on the back nine.

Nearest the pins were Richard Bett on the seventh hole and Dennis Murphy on the 13th hole.

Tomorrow’s event will be the Terry Maas Memorial with Nathan and Alan McLean on the draw.
