Burst tank and mains break unrelated
While the cause of a GWMWater tank failing on Wednesday March 12 in Nhill is officially still under investigation, it's thought it could have resulted from significant ground movement.

The incident left residents in the town conserving water for about 12 hours after 1.8 megalitres of water flooded into the street, with some damage reported to homes located close to the facility.
Ayesha Sedgman, communications and engagement co-ordinator at GWMWater, confirmed the incident wasn't associated with a break in the mains in Lloyd Street, Dimboola, despite community speculation.
She said that the outage lasted about five hours and affected customers in Dimboola.
"This mains break is unrelated to the tank failure in Nhill," Ms Sedgman said.
"While Nhill does receive treated water from Dimboola, there was no impact to the transfer system."
Ms Sedgman said GWMWater was assessing its options for replacing the Nhill tank and would keep the community informed on the works.
"We're aware that some nearby residential properties reported water damage and are working with these residents," she said.
"If impacted customers require any additional assistance, please contact GWMWater on 1800 188 586, any time of the day."
