CFA siren testing to start in Feb
As part of its commitment to ensuring the safety and preparedness of the community, Horsham CFA will start monthly testing of the fire station's emergency siren system in February.
The siren tests will take place on the third Monday of every month at 5pm.
These tests are vital to ensuring that the siren system remains fully operational and ready to alert the community in the event of an emergency.
The siren will sound for a brief period (about 30 seconds), and the testing will be conducted in a controlled and routine manner to minimise any disruption to the public.
In the event of an actual emergency coinciding with a scheduled test, the siren will sound continuously as for a normal incident.
Horsham CFA encourages all residents to familiarise themselves with the sound of the emergency siren, develop and review their household emergency plans, and stay informed through the CFA's official channels (such as the VicEmergency website and app) for updates and safety advice.
"The safety of our community is our highest priority," Horsham CFA communications officer Kate Wills said
"Regular siren testing is a small but essential part of our broader emergency preparedness strategy.
"We appreciate the community’s understanding and co-operation."
