Police have charged three youths following an alleged robbery and assault in Stawell.
Detectives from the Northern Grampians Crime Investigation Unit executed four search warrants on Tuesday, October 13, and arrested two 15-year-olds and a 14-year-old boy, all from the Northern Grampians area.
“We completely understand the concern this incident has caused in our community,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said.
“Since last Monday, local uniform police and detectives have been working tirelessly to identify those involved and hold them to account, and this important work will continue.”
All three have been charged with affray, robbery, recklessly causing injury and theft and will appear before a children’s court at a later date.
A fourth boy, who was not present at a warrant at his address, will be interviewed at a later date.
“There is never any excuse for violence in our community, and we will not accept it in any form,” the spokesperson said.
“Detectives are continuing to investigate the matter, and while we are treating it as an isolated incident, additional patrols will take place across Stawell to ensure our community not only is safe but feels safe.”
The charges follow an incident near the intersection of Wakeham and Doyle streets about 5.45pm on Monday, October 5.
Detectives allege a group of males set upon a 15-year-old boy, assaulted him and stole shoes and clothing before taking off on foot.
The boy was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been released.
