Community's generosity shines bright
The Horsham community has once again demonstrated its unwavering generosity, this time by contributing to a nationwide Petstock campaign that raised an incredible $875,000 for charities across Australia.

Petstock Horsham, as part of this initiative, selected Lort Smith as its charity of choice, locals donating an impressive $480 to support the cause.
Lort Smith, a Victorian-based organisation, provides comfort and relief to people facing illness, adversity and trauma through its animal therapy programs.
These programs bring joy and connection to individuals in hospitals, aged-care facilities and youth centers by introducing therapy animals.
Petstock Horsham owner Gary Smith expressed his gratitude for the community’s support.
“The Lort Smith campaign was fantastic," Mr Smith said.
"The Horsham community really got behind it.
“We’re in pretty tough times at the moment but people are still really happy to donate.
“They were only $2 and $5 contributions.”
The statewide effort for Lort Smith resulted in $113,980 in donations – a testament to Victorians' dedication to helping others through the power of animal connection.
Mr Smith credited Horsham’s spirit of kindness and community as the driving force behind the collection's success.
“Horsham is an amazingly generous community,” he said.
“I thank them for the support as they continually keep giving.
“Everyone in Horsham love their pets.”
Mr Smith also highlighted the broader charitable work supported by Petstock throughout the year.
“We always have Petstock Foundation toys and treats available in-store where all profits go to charity,” he said.
“This campaign is just one of the many ways we give back, whether it’s through the Blind Dogs Association or art programs for individuals with disabilities.”
The campaign ran for just over a month mostly in December but its impact will be felt for much longer thanks to the generosity of Horsham’s residents and their commitment to making a difference.
