Competitive outings for Junior Hornets at Warrnambool
Fourteen junior teams represented Horsham Hornets on October 25-26 at the Norton Ford Warrnambool Junior Seaside Classic Basketball Tournament.

Having competed in their first representative tournament of the season in Hamilton two weeks earlier, the junior Hornets teams had the opportunity to play against additional competition in Warrnambool, including teams from Mount Gambier, Terang, Echuca and Millicent.
Playing across age groups from under 12s to under 18s, all teams put in competitive efforts, with eight of the sides either finishing in the top four of their division or advancing to the semi-finals.
Among the impressive team performances, the under 18s' A side had an agonising 39-37 loss to eventual winners Colac in their semi-final after both sides traded leads constantly throughout the game.
The under 16 girls' team pushed eventual champions Warrnambool in the division one semi-final, leading 19-12 at half-time before suffering a 37-28 defeat.
Numerous Horsham juniors had standout individual efforts, most notably Charlie Hobbs and Ruby Williams.
Hobbs led the under 16 boys' division one competition in scoring with 63 points across just four games, including a 19-point effort in the side’s one-point loss to Echuca in the quarter-finals.
Playing for the under 18 girls' B side, Williams led division three in scoring with 48 points from four games, including 21 points against the Koroit Saints Red side.
Tex Askew, who played with the under 14 boys' A team, had one of the best individual games across the tournament, scoring 30 points in the side’s round one clash with Colac.
The teams will now prepare for the Intersport Horsham Junior Classic, to be run from November 7 to 9.
