Cooking up confidence at Neighbourhood House
COMMUNITY members across Horsham will have the opportunity to build their cooking skills and make new connections through a new Creative Cuisine program at the Horsham Neighbourhood House.
The program will be over eight weeks, running fortnightly throughout the school term, and has been made possible through a grant from the Horsham Rural City Council.
The classes will be held from 12-2pm on July 31, August 14 and 28, and September 11, with participants encouraged to RSVP before attending, with the cost being $2 per participant.
The Horsham Neighbourhood House administration assistant, Bobbi Wade, said the program was designed to teach daily living skills in a fun and supportive environment.
“This is an opportunity for community members to learn some basic cooking skills and activities of daily living,” she said.
“As participants’ skills increase, so too will the difficulty of the dishes.”
Each session will focus on preparing a two-course meal, giving participants the chance to build confidence in the kitchen while learning new recipes.
Ms Wade said the program is about more than just cooking.
“It is a fantastic opportunity for community members to come together, form new social connections, and foster existing ones,” she said.
Participants will plan and prepare their meals before sitting down together to enjoy what they have cooked.
The Creative Cuisine classes will be held at the Horsham Neighbourhood House, 13-15 Robin Street, Horsham.
People wishing to attend are encouraged to RSVP, as places are limited.
