Council plan adopted
The Hindmarsh Shire Council formally adopted its Council Plan 2025-2029 and the accompanying 2025/2026 Council Plan Actions at its meeting on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

The plan incorporates the Community Vision and the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan, setting the direction for the next four years.
The council based the plan on extensive two-stage community engagement, which included a survey and a deliberative process.
The council then made the draft Plan available for public feedback from late July until August 22.
After considering submissions, the council introduced minor changes to strengthen its commitment to social inclusion, connection and accessibility.
The plan is structured around four key themes: community, environment, economy, and governance and sustainability.
Each theme includes three goals, supported by three to four priorities that will guide the council's work.
The council stated that these priorities will focus on communication, improved processes, innovation, and growth.
The 2025/2026 Council Plan Actions outline the proposed actions for the upcoming year, while also indicating the indicative steps for future years.
Council will consult annually to refine these actions.
It will also report quarterly on progress and provide an annual update on the Council Plan, including the Public Health and Wellbeing Plan.
The council has published both the Council Plan 2025-2029 and the 2025/2026 Actions on its website.
