These inspections will identify potential fire hazards at all residential properties within the shire.

Inspections will start at the northern end of the municipality and progress to the south by November.

All property owners are advised to maintain their properties by slashing dead or long dry grass and removing fuels such as dead branches and piles of cut vegetation.

Property owners are responsible for reducing the threat a fire poses to their home and surrounding neighbours.

For further information on how to prepare a property, contact council’s fire prevention officer, Craig Byron, on 5398 0100 or visit the CFA website http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/how-to-prepare-your-property/

A property owner who does not comply with a Fire Prevention Notice (CFA Act 1958) within the specified time might be issued with an infringement notice for $1975 and associated costs.
