Wimmera District Cubs and Scouts arrived at Platform 9 ¾ for a fun-filled weekend of adventure in Dimboola for our District Wizardry Camp.

Youth members crafted their own magic wands and learned new spells. Cubs also discovered the magic of fire and how to safely make it, developing skills not only for Wizards but also to earn some of their Outdoor Adventurer Skills.

After lunch, everyone took part in the Triwizard Tournament, enjoyed some archery, and hunted for Dragon Eggs.

Cubs practised using aerials to find hidden beacons around the grounds and sharpened their navigation skills with a compass.

Saturday night featured a fantastic campfire - the weather cooperated as we sang classic songs and learned some new ones.

On Sunday, as the fog settled in, we enjoyed breakfast of bacon and eggs while the leaders prepared a playful tournament between Cubs and Scouts with foam blaster balls - a new addition to the District Archery set.

After lunch, the fun continued around Dimboola, with activities at various locations for the Cubs to find.

They built new skills and competed in friendly battles along the way.

Sunday night culminated with the Tin Shed transformed into the Great Hall - a perfect setting for our graduating Wizards.

We wrapped up the camp with a Harry Potter quiz and some exciting Minute to Win It games.

The next morning involved clean-up and pack-up time before the train at Platform 9 ¾ closed for the day.

This camp was also a great opportunity for Cubs to earn their three nights under canvas, helping them qualify for Cuboree in September - a huge state Cub Camp at Gilwell Park, Gembrook, during the September school holidays.

A huge thank you to the leaders for creating and developing an awesome camp full of activities.

Our Cooks, Gunner and Ann, and their helper, Muggle Lochie. To the Scouts who joined us and helped out, thank you for stepping up.

If you want to join in the fun, consider signing up with your local Scout Group for a free three-night trial.

Come along, see what our section is all about, and start your own adventure!
