Defending premiers pushed
Horsham A Grade banked a win in Round One of the WFNL on the netball court on Saturday, defeating Ararat by eight.

It was a pleasing performance, according to coach Georgie Carberry, who said her side worked extra hard in the heat to get the win.
The Demons controlled the game at every break, eventually winning 56 to 46, with Jorja Jones and Ebonie Salter leading the way for the side.
"Jorja showed heaps of determination and grit running out four-quarters of centre in a fast and physical game," Carberry acknowledged.
"She contested hard at the ball and her work ethic was superb.
"Ebonie is such a skillful and smart player and that really showed on Saturday.
"She rebounded strongly, positioned herself to her advantage, and played a solid game."
Carberry was particularly pleased with the way her side contributed a four-quarter effort.
"We had patches of good moments and patches where the Rats just kept on coming at us and I think the way we held ourselves and just played our game during those clutch patches was a highlight," she said.
She also acknowledged her opposition and said despite them having a new lineup this season, they came out fast, hard, and physical.
"They’re going to be strong and good team this season," Carberry said.
"I think the margin does reflect the difficulty - it was hot, it’s our first game, new teammates and the Rats were good!"
Despite banking the win, the coach said there was lots to take from the game and work on, however, she was happy with the effort from her girls and the way they played.
Better players for Ararat on Saturday were Jessica Taylor and Paige Biddle.
