Dimboola Lions Club announced earlier this week via Facebook that the currency had officially sold out.

It came not long after the club posted that there weren't many left.

"We love that people - locals and visitors - have embraced our Dimboola Dollars," it read.

"We are hoping that you choose to support some of our small local businesses to buy something a little extra."

On Monday, March 24, the club announced on Facebook that they sold out of the currency.

Dimboola Lions Club printed $10,000 worth of Dimboola Dollars in $10, $20, $50 and $100, allowing people to purchase the dollars for half the value.

They were limited to purchasing $250 worth of Dimboola Dollars to ensure benefits were shared around the community.

An investment of $5000 into the town was made by the Lions Club.

Each Dimboola Dollar was numbered and recorded by secretary Jan John to prevent fraud.

Dimboola Lions Club will be seeking feedback from traders and consumers who participated in the program to learn what can be done better if they were to do it again.
