The final score was Dimboola 8.10 (58) to Warrack 6.8 (44).

Better players for Dimboola in the clash were Simon Hobbs and Will Griffiths, while Sam Hayden and Sam Hanna were in form for Warrack.

Andrew Moore and Jackson Calder were the only players for Dimboola to boot multiple majors, with a couple each, while for Warrack, Charlie Wilson kicked four goals.

Coach of Dimboola, Dean Toet, said he wouldn't have liked to have been a spectator at the game on Saturday.

"It was low scoring, it was a lot of pressure, a lot of turnovers, just a game that was scrappy," Toet said.

"But it was good to slog it out and get over the line."

The coach described the weather as "bitter and cold" and laughed about his Darwin players not liking it.

"It got down to 20 degrees on Friday night when they were leaving up there, and they got down here and it was a top of five or six," he said.

"I don't know how they do it, with such a big weather change."

But weather aside, Toet said to win the game, his side had a focus on not giving up the match, and they kept in mind that the job wasn't done until the final siren sounded.

He was pleased with the efforts of best on grounds, Griffiths and Hobbs.

"Hobbsy's just getting better and better," Toet said.

"He had a year off last year and is at a new club this year with us, and he is taking a bit of time to find his feet and get back into it.

"But his intercept marks in the last quarter – he probably saved us the game.

"He would have eight or 10 in the last 12-13 minutes of the game."

Griffiths, who has always been a back-line player, has been adapting to a bit of a new role, running through the wing.

"He's got a good cardio base and he's just starting to find his feet there after being a bit lost early," Toet said.

"He's got his head around the position, and it's not an easy one to play, and he was good on Saturday as well.

"Ben Miller was also good; Jack Landt, Dylan Landt, Johno Ross, and Andrew Moore were all good."

Dimboola will this week come up against the Thunder, with the side seventh.

"We definitely won't be taking that game lightly at all," Toet said.

"They are a lot like us in they have blokes that come in some weeks, and out other weeks.

"But it's close at the minute (the league), everyone's close, and you just need to keep a lid on it.

"You can't look at the ladder through and get excited because sometimes you are only in the five for a sleepover, and next minute you are second bottom.

"It's so different this year, the competition, you think a team is up and about, they've won a couple of games, and then they get rolled by a side you didn't expect.

"You only have to look at the Thunder last week, Thunder were down by 20-something points at three-quarter time and only just got up by a point."
