'Disappointing': mine go-ahead gets criticism
RESOURCES Victoria has granted a mining licence to WIM Resource Pty Ltd for the proposed Avonbank Mineral Sands Project located 15 kilometres north-east of Horsham. The decision has sparked strong criticism from farmers, environmentalists and local government voices.
The Avonbank mine has been approved by Resources Victoria, but the critics have said the protection of prime agricultural land should be prioritised.
