Donald Jeffcott out for redemption against Warriors
The first day of Horsham Cricket Association’s round eight A grade matches commences this Saturday, December 13, where the matchup between West Wimmera and Donald Jeffcott looms as the game of the round.

The first day of Horsham Cricket Association’s round eight A grade matches commences this Saturday, December 13, where the matchup between West Wimmera and Donald Jeffcott looms as the game of the round.
West Wimmera are the competition leaders after seven rounds, but suffered their first defeat at the hands of Swifts-Great Western on December 6.
Conversely, Donald Jeffcott are coming off an outright win over St Mary’s, where they displayed their ability with both bat and ball.
As well as entering the game with confidence, Donald Jeffcott will look to redeem their round three loss to the Warriors, where a match-winning innings from Brad Alexander proved the difference.
But the Warriors have the home ground advantage of playing at Davis Park in Nhill and have proven they are still the team to beat.
At Central Park in Stawell, Swifts-Great Western will be eyeing off a top-four spot as they host St Mary’s.
Last round’s victory over the Warriors means the fifth-placed Combine team is equal on 30 points with third-placed Donald Jeffcott and the fourth-placed Bullants.
The home side defeated St Mary’s by seven wickets in their round two one-day clash and will be favoured, while the visitors will hope for a resurgent effort following their loss to Donald Jeffcott.
At City Oval, both the Bullants and Lubeck Murtoa will aspire for improved batting performances following defeats in their opening two-day games in round seven.
The round five clash between the teams saw the Bullants take a resounding 187-run victory, led by captain Tony Caccaviello.
But if Lubeck Murtoa can better support skipper Cameron Newell, who top-scored in both innings against Laharum, the Mudlarks will stand a chance against the top four side.
At Dudley Cornell Park, the Colts will aim to reverse the result of their previous encounter against Brim Kellalac Sheep Hills (Brim KSH).
The Eagles defeated the Colts by seven wickets in round two following a commanding bowling performance.
After bowling out the Bullants for 64 in round seven, they will fancy themselves for another win.
But after just falling short in multiple games this year, the Colts’ resilient batting performance against the Tigers to claim victory last Saturday will give them a boost, along with the home turf advantage.
At Sunnyside Recreation Reserve, Laharum will strive to extend its five-game winning streak against the Tigers.
Following their round three win over Swifts-Great Western, the Demons have continued to build their momentum and are currently leading the league in both runs scored and wickets taken.
Conversely, the Tigers will likely need a season-best bowling performance to topple the Demons, but have put in consistent batting performances in recent games.
In B grade, St Mary’s will host the Tigers at Anzac Park, the Colts meet West Wimmera at Dudley Cornell Park, Brim KSH host the Bullants at Brim Recreation Reserve, Swifts-Great Western go against Donald Jeffcott at North Park, while the second-placed Rup-Minyip Panthers host league leaders Horsham Saints at Minyip Recreation Reserve.
In round nine of the C grade one-day competition, Quantong hosts Rhymney Moyston at Quantong Recreation Reserve, Swifts-Great Western travels to Lubeck Recreation Reserve to go against the Mudlarks, the Tigers face off against Natimuk at Natimuk Showgrounds, Blackheath Dimboola hosts Laharum at Dimboola Recreation Reserve, and the Horsham Saints meet Homers at Coughlin Park.
