Several hotly contested matchups await in round six of the Horsham Cricket Association A grade competition this Saturday, including the clash between West Wimmera and Brim Kellalac Sheep Hills.

Jake McLean will lead the Colts against Laharum at Cameron Oval in round six of the Horsham Cricket Association A grade competition on Saturday, November 22.

The Warriors are undefeated through five rounds and have beaten Donald Jeffcott, the Bullants and Swifts-Great Western, all top-six sides, in their last three games.

They will again be challenged when they host the fifth-placed Brim KSH at Davis Park in Nhill on Saturday.

The 3-2 Eagles are coming off a victory against the Tigers and have demonstrated they are in the hunt for a finals spot in the early stages of the season.

But West Wimmera have yet to drop a game despite several tight contests against quality opposition.

Speaking after last week’s game, Eagles player Lachlan McGinniss said his team welcomed the challenge against the Warriors, as well as the second-placed Bullants in round seven.

“Going up against West Wimmera, that’s probably the peak of the challenge so far this year, them and the Bullants the week after,” McGinniss said.

“I think we’ll have a fair dip and maybe need a bit of luck because those guys are in red-hot form at the moment.

“As long as we’re competitive against them, we will at least make it a good game of cricket against them.”

At Horsham City Oval, the second-placed Bullants and third-placed Donald Jeffcott will go head-to-head.

Both sides have four wins to their name from their first five games, with each of their losses coming at the hands of West Wimmera.

One of the competition newcomers, Donald Jeffcott, have shown they are a force with the bat, scoring more runs than any other team through five rounds.

But they meet a Bullants bowling attack with plenty of depth, including skipper Tony Caccaviello, who comes off a 4/5 performance with the ball in the team’s commanding win over Lubeck Murtoa last week.

Donald Jeffcott also turned in one of their best bowling performances of the season against the Colts, led by Cooper Anderson’s 5/19, indicating a good battle should ensue in each innings.

Swifts-Great Western will host Lubeck Murtoa at Central Park in Stawell, where both teams will look to improve their performances after round five losses.

Each team has firepower in their batting top order, with Swifts-Great Western’s Aiden Graveson and Zach Marrow, and Lubeck Murtoa’s Shannon Reddie and Aaron Leith all among the top ten run scorers after five rounds.

With the advantage of playing at home and having recorded decisive wins in the opening two rounds, Swifts-Great Western will be favoured in Saturday’s clash.

Laharum will be aiming to continue their current form when they host the Colts at Cameron Oval.

The Demons backed up strong wins against Swifts-Great Western and Brim KSH with a resounding 172-run victory over St Mary’s in round five.

Despite tough losses to Donald Jeffcott and Brim KSH, the 1-4 Colts were in winnable positions against West Wimmera and Lubeck Murtoa, and will go into Saturday knowing they are a chance of an upset.

At Anzac Park, St Mary’s and the Tigers will both be searching for their first win of the season.

The home side has shown flashes with the ball, but has struggled to deliver consistent batting output.

Conversely, the Tigers have put up competitive totals on multiple occasions, but struggled to make consistent breakthroughs with the ball, suggesting each side’s strengths and weaknesses will align in their respective innings on Saturday.

All senior games commence at 1pm.

In B grade, the unbeaten Horsham Saints will be tested when they take on the second-placed Bullants at Coughlin Park.

Elsewhere, Donald Jeffcott hosts West Wimmera at Goff Letts Oval; the Rupanyup-Minyip Panthers take on Brim KSH at Rupanyup Recreation Reserve; Swifts-Great Western host St Mary’s at Great Western Recreation Reserve; and Colts host the Tigers at Dudley Cornell Park.

In C grade, Rhymney Moyston hosts Natimuk at Moyston Recreation Reserve, Laharum travels to Halls Gap Recreation Reserve to take on the Kookaburras, Quantong hosts Horsham Saints at Quantong Recreation Reserve, Homers take on the Lubek Murtoa Mudlarks at Murtoa Recreation Reserve, and the Tigers meet Blackheath Dimboola Bulls at Dimboola Road Oval.
