Eagles look to Ararat after Dimboola loss
A fast-starting Eagles side have been overrun by Dimboola, as the latter recorded their first win of the 2026 season.
Both teams endured testing conditions throughout the game, making it difficult to establish momentum.
Nevertheless, the Roos earned four premiership points with a 42-33 victory at home.
A two-goal lead at quarter-time was extended to four at the main break before the home side put the foot down in quarter three.
Warrack were limited to nine attempts on goal as the Roos' defence limited opportunities across the court.
At the final break, the Roos were ahead by nine goals.
The sides traded goals in the final quarter, with the Roos holding on to win by nine.
For her defensive pressure and solid work through the midcourt, Billie Barber was named best on court alongside Nicole Polycarpou, who top-scored with 36 goals.
The evergreen Emma Koschitzke and Barber’s direct opponent, Maddie Okely, were named best on court for the Eagles.
This week the Eagles are at home at Anzac Park against Ararat, and coach Sarah Spicer said there were a few things from last week's game her side would have to improve on to earn the four points this Saturday.
"We will need to work on keeping possession of the ball and our turnovers," Spicer said.
"We had plenty of the ball on Saturday but there were lots of opportunities we wasted."
Spicer said the Eagles would be looking to close down Ararat's goalies, Laney McLoughlan and Maggie Astbury, who were as accurate and strong as each other.
"Our defence will need to keep pressure on them and make sure we stay in play," Spicer said.
