Eagles looking to soar, but Thunder stand in their way

With every other team having played at least a game already this season, the Eagles will finally get onto the field this Saturday, but the Thunder will look to dampen their flight.

Southern Mallee will be hoping for their first win from the hit out, after being defeated in Round One by Stawell.

The Thunder fell three goals short against their opposition a fortnight ago, despite Coleman Schache and Kai Sheers leading the way, with Sheers, Brayden Ison and Haydn Drew all booting goals by the multiple.

While all eyes will be on the Eagles in the competition's first look this season, the side should benefit from a big summer of training.

They've also made the most of their late start to the season, using the delay to keep watch on the opposition, so they know what to expect this year.

With the Thunder's new recruits already having a game played with their side this season, the Eagles have welcomed 10 new players, with coach Matt Walder hoping most, if not all, will have big games on Saturday.
