Eagles to clash against Saints at Anzac Park

This Saturday, the side from Warrack will line up against the Horsham Saints at Anzac Park.

The Saints, seventh, are one place ahead of the Eagles on the ladder and coach of the home side, Matt Walder, said the game is certainly there for the taking.

"They are all getable, and it's at home too," he said.

"If we are going to progress through the back half of the season, we need to turn those early-round close losses into wins going our way.

"It's on us to see how far we have improved and take the learnings from the first half of the season."

It would take a four-quarter effort to get over the top of the Saints, the coach said.

"They are a good young side that moves the footy reasonably quickly, so we have to be able to quell that but also find a way to be more dangerous and throw some fear back at them," Walder concluded.

The Eagles are coming off a 69-point loss to ladder leaders in Ararat, while Stawell defeated the Saints to the tune of 38 points.

Last time the Eagles and Saints met, it was back in round five, on May 17, and the Horsham side claimed the win, 12.8 (80) to 10.6 (66).

The defeat came for the Eagles despite a blistering start, outscoring their opposition 6.1 (37) to 2.1 (13) in the first quarter.

By the end of the next quarter, though the Saints had the lead, and held a lead, albeit small, until the final quarter, when the gap grew to 14 points.
