Edenhope ready to challenge Laharum
Edenhope Apsley will look to make their mark in A Grade netball when they meet Laharum this Saturday in round nine of the Horsham District Football Netball League.
The Saints are currently placed third on the ladder and entered the long weekend break off the back of a 58-35 win over Taylors Lake.
Lavinia Fox, coach of Edenhope Apsley, is excited for the chance to go against the reigning premiers.
“I think it will be a ripper match, it will be quite entertaining to watch,” Fox said.
“Laharum are a very connected group and they won the premiership last year.
“The best way we can try and combat that would be to focus on our own processes and own connections."
Laharum have remained the team to chase in 2025, currently leading the league despite losing their round eight clash against Natimuk.
Despite the loss, Fox is expecting a determined Laharum outfit to bring their best, and believes new Edenhope player DeeDee Lambert will be crucial in the matchup.
“It was really nice to get our new recruit, DeeDee Lambert, involved in the Taylors Lake match, where she had a fantastic match, shot very accurately, and scored a high volume of goals,” Fox said.
“I think she'll play a really pivotal role for us this weekend.
“Looking at the strength of Laharum, in terms of their defence, we need to make sure that we've got someone else who can help share that shooting load, and that’s DeeDee.
“She's got a lot of athleticism and she's a very accurate shooter, and she’s got a lot of experience as well.”
Edenhope Apsley will hope to continue integrating their structures and building team chemistry going forward.
“We had a solid win over Taylors Lake and we definitely used it as an opportunity to try and solidify some new connections,” Fox said.
“It'll be a really good test this weekend to test those combinations for our own team and to see how we go against some quality opposition this weekend.”
In other round nine games, Kalkee host Natimuk, Harrow Balmoral go up against Rupanyup, Swifts, currently in fourth on the ladder, meet Kaniva Leeor, and Pimpinio host Noradjuha Quantong.
Taylors Lake has a bye.
