Families race into fun for a great cause
Laughter, friendly competition and community spirit were on full display as families of St Joseph’s School gathered for a Family Fun Afternoon to raise funds for the Burns Unit at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
The event, organised by members of the Junior Red Cross and Mission Group, began with a delicious BBQ lunch, giving families the opportunity to catch up and enjoy time together before the afternoon’s activities got underway.
With the smell of sausages on the barbecue and plenty of smiling faces, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the very beginning.
The highlight of the afternoon was a series of traditional family races that had participants of all ages cheering from the sidelines.
Competitors tested their balance in the egg-and-spoon race, bounced their way to the finish line in the ever-popular sack races, and worked together in the entertaining wheelbarrow races.
Parents, grandparents and children all joined in, creating plenty of laughter and memorable moments.
There were also Connect Four, Jenga, Quoits and Noughts and Crosses for families to enjoy playing together.
$439.90 was raised from the event, which will be donated to the Burns Unit at the Royal Children’s Hospital, helping provide specialist care and support for children and families during some of their most challenging times.
A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone who attended, volunteered, donated and helped organise the afternoon.
The generosity of our community once again demonstrated that when people come together, they can make a meaningful difference while creating lasting memories along the way.
