Farm margins take centre stage as Wilkur Trial Farm opens its gates
Boolah’s newest Trial Farm will open its gates for the first time on Thursday, September 10, giving Wimmera and Mallee growers a rare opportunity to step into the paddock and see commercial-scale agricultural trials under real farming conditions.
Under the 2026 theme Margin Matters, the free Boolah Trial Farm Field Day will focus firmly on practical information growers can use to make better on-farm decisions, from input choices and soil management to productivity and profitability.
Growers will hear directly from the researchers, agronomists and industry partners running the trials at Wilkur and be among the first to hear trial results, with the chance to ask questions, question the findings and discuss how they could translate to their own soils, rotations and farming systems.
The program brings together leading agricultural thinkers, including Agripath’s Simon Fritsch, examining farm margins and the numbers behind profitable decision-making, and University of New England soil scientist Richard Flavel, exploring soil function and its relationship with productivity.
Boolah’s long-term Trial Farm partners KIVAS, CASE IH, Fendt, Barrett Burston Malting and Terragen will join researchers, growers and industry specialists throughout the day, giving attendees direct access to the people behind the products, technologies and trials.
With Asahi Beverages as National Platinum Field Day Partner, the day also brings the wider supply chain into the paddock, connecting what happens on-farm with malting, processing and ultimately the journey from paddock to pint.
It reflects Boolah’s focus on sharing commercial-scale research openly with industry and creating stronger conversations between growers, researchers, processors and end users.
