Fiona Lowe in Warracknabeal
Yarriambaick Libraries were very fortunate to secure an author visit from Australian best-selling author, Fiona Lowe, while on a tour to promote her latest novel, “The Drowning”.

Close to 40 people attended the Warracknabeal Library on Thursday, April 22, to hear her talk on her life, writing journey and the process of very recently finishing her latest novel and submitting it to her publisher for approval.
Fiona has been a midwife, a sexual health counsellor, and a family support worker. She spent her younger years in Papua New Guinea, where, growing up without television, she developed a lifelong love of reading.
Fiona did not start writing novels until the birth of her first child in the early 2000’s. Interesting fact, she first started writing for Mills & Boon.
She has since moved on to writing her own novels and has published 9 novels in the past 9 years.
Erin Paech of Hopetoun felt like she had a connection with Fiona's books.
"I really enjoyed the night, listening to how she came up with her stories and learning how she gets all her characters and plots," Ms Paech said.
"Hearing how much goes into writing the stories.
“It made me feel like I have a connection with her books now.”
Fiona’s books are set in small country towns and feature real people facing tough choices, exploring how family ties impact their decisions.
Originally from Melbourne, Fiona and her family settled in Geelong.
Her appreciation for the country way of life, in particular small-town living, is eerily well represented in her novels.
Yarriambiack Libraries have Fiona’s books available in paper copy and as audiobooks on Borrow Box.
