Fisher sinks historic hole-in-one at Rainbow
Last time I filed a golf report it was all about 111.

But this week we have refined it down to just 1: 1 lady, 1 hole and 1 hit and in it went.
That bright-green ball hopped, skipped and jumped and plopped itself into the 5th hole.
The screaming was heard all over the course.
Congratulations to Helen Fisher who took home all the glory on the day.
Helen had the best stableford score, was part of the winning combo of secret partners and won the Silver Spoon round and also won her singles knockout match against Lynne McKenzie.
Lynne fought hard but couldn’t keep us to an in form Helen.
Both knocked a stroke off their handicaps when the grim reaper entered the stats.
Lynne is now our lowest-handicapped lady and is ready to play some fantastic golf.
Now for a little Rainbow Golf Club history.
RGC was founded in 1909.
Shortly after, ladies joined the men out on the course.
In this proud 134-year history there have only previously been four ladies who have managed the elusive ace, and the last of these was in 1967.
Ladies from Rainbow who have their names on the honour board are in 1953 Mrs S Sluggett, in 1957 both Mrs C McIntosh and Mrs L Murphy and 10 years later in 1967 Mrs M Pasco.
These were all scored on the 10th hole, we think.
In the late 1960s the course was changed and the 10th hole where these were scored and the 5th hole where Helen score on Wednesday were both altered.
Therefore, Helen had the first ladies' hole-in-one since the changed course and the first lady on the 5th hole.
The Rainbow men have scored a little better with 19 hole-in-ones there, the first in 1934 and the last one being Ian 'Frizz' Robertson on the 16th hole in 2006.
The men have had only one hole-in-one on the 13th, two on the 3rd and 8th, three on the 10thm five on the 16th and six on the 5th.
Phew!
But it's been almost 20 years since the last one so it's time we had a little run of aces on both boards.
Next week the ladies will play the second round of their club championships, count their putts and try to win an elusive monthly medal.
Any new or returning players are welcome to join in.
The following week will be the annual tournament where on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
