Flannery wins monthly medal
THIRTY-ONE men and seven ladies played golf last Saturday with the men contesting the D. Hill and Sons monthly medal donated by Wayne Dovaston, a long time sponsor of the club.

David Flannery (hcp 21) won the event with a score of 89-21-69 on a countback from the form player for the last month, club captain Ash Purdue 77-8-69.
Other good scores were Danny Kearns 86-16-70 and Alan Habel 90-18-72.
The ladies stableford winner was recently crowned Shearwater winner Kaye Picken (30) with 38 points, followed by Mary Massey (28) on 32 points.
Tomorrow’s event is a 4BBB net stroke. On the draw in Daniel Kearns and Brenton Cheney.
Nearest the pin second shot ninth hole was Ash Purdue. Closest on the fifth hole was Darren Tegelhuter and Casey Phelan, on the seventh hole was David Baxter and Mary Massey and on the 13th hole was Terry Sanders.
It is great to see some new players out on the course. Dalton Jaensch and Caleb Powell are becoming regulars. Some bowlers are back and also some from other clubs.
I also noted that 62 veterans played at the WGC on Monday with David Baxter runner-up on 37 points. Not far behind that was Chris Phelan on 36 points, also Brian Scott on 36, Russell Schulz had 35 points along with Brian Pitt. John Peters and Kym Stepney had 34 points.
Last Thursday’s Palace Hotel Meal Run was won by Noel Huebner on the front nine holes with 2 points (retirement is certainly working for Noel - LIV Golf is having a close look apparently), Brian Scott on 21 points and Caleb Powell on 19 points.
The back nine holes were won by Mark Lovett on 20 points with Rohan Laycock on 19 points. Overall winner was Noel (LIV) Huebner on 39 points.
Nearest the pin fifth and seventh hole was Gary Krahe, 13th hole was Derek Picken.
Joke of the week
Daryl and Sue Sanford were flying to Germany recently and when they arrived at check in the airport staff mentioned that there has been a change in seating arrangements.
“Daryl, we apologise, but your set will be 14A and Sue’s is 42A.
Daryl said, “Ok thanks, do I owe you anything extra for that.”
The staff said, “no sir, Sue has already paid previously.”
