The Little River Band performed at the Horsham Theatre in July of 1976, signalling the start of a pop music onslaught for the Wimmera.
The Little River Band performed at the Horsham Theatre in July of 1976, signalling the start of a pop music onslaught for the Wimmera.
The concert was the first of three, with Sherbet set to play later in the month on July 23 and Skyhooks on August 17.
More than 450 teenagers watched the Little River Band perform.
The concert was part of a national tour to coincide with the release of the band’s second album, ‘After Hours’.
The Horsham concert was the only one in the Wimmera.
Reportedly, it lacked the hysteria evident in recent Horsham pop concerts, as the music was clearly engineered and at a volume less than ear-drum-shattering.
The Horsham crowd was the biggest of the band’s tour of Victorian country centres.
Little River Band formed in 1975, achieving commercial success in both Australia and the United States with hits such as ‘Help Is On Its Way’ and ‘Reminiscing.’
John Farnham officially joined the band in February 1982.
