Dimboola Shire President Cr Tom McQuilton opened Dimboola’s new $115,000 sports stadium.

About 250 people were at the opening of the stadium at Dimboola Recreation Reserve where Dimboola and Murtoa netballers played an exhibition match.

The new stadium replaced an old agricultural society building, which had a concrete floor and was not regulation-size basketball and other sports.

The new stadium boasted facilities for basketball, netball, badminton and volleyball.

The Department of Sport and Recreation provided a $28,000 grant for the pavilion, and the Dimboola Shire Council covered the rest of the cost.
