FLASHBACK: August 26 1976
Staff of the Hopetoun Post Office made a presentation to postmaster Garry Shinners on Thursday, August 19, 1976, prior to his departure for St. Arnaud.

Mr Shinners commenced duties at Hopetoun in March 1968, coming from Ararat.
During his stay in Hopetoun, Mr Shinners was an active member of the Hopetoun-Rosebery Joint Parish Church, a member of the Golf Club, secretary of the Southern Mallee Night Tennis Association for a number of years, as well as being secretary and president of the Hopetoun Club.
He was the club champion of the tennis club and was a member of two premiership teams in the night tennis.

Graeme Newey of Ouyen took over duties at Hopetoun from Gary on Wednesday, August 18.
Ray Connell from Mildura was promoted to the Hopetoun Post Office.
