Flashback: July 10 1986
Visitors travelled more than 100 miles to join a crowd of 150 people to dance the night away at the Hopetoun Memorial Hall’s Old Time Dance on Friday, July 4, 1986.
The 'Star' of the evening, Bessie Shields, and the winner of the Miss Teenager prize, Nola Hahnel, are pictured above with their dance partners.
The social outing brought families together for an enjoyable evening with music supplied by the Old Time Mallee Band from Swan Hill.
Bessie Shields from Mildura was chosen as the ‘Star’ of the evening, who went on to represent Hopetoun at the State Finals in Geelong the following month.

Nola Hahnel from Ouyen won the ‘Miss Teenager’ prize.
The Hopetoun/Rosebery Uniting Church Parish received $647 after expenses.
