The “Sister Faith” band continue to be very popular; they drew a large crowd at the Beulah hall last week for the netball girls dance and they are playing for the first time at Hopetoun next Friday night.

Favoured with good weather, Hopetoun Golf Club held a most successful four day tournament
last week.
It was a success, both from the entries received, and the support given by local people and
trade organisations in donating all trophies.
The tournament commenced on Wednesday with ladies and men’s four-ball.
There were 21 pairs of men and eight pairs of ladies.
Ladies Day attracted 64 entries, whilst Men’s days there were 70 players.
Social day saw 36 pairs take the field in very pleasant weather.

Although Rainbow tried hard, they found it impossible to make any impression on the strong
Hopetoun side last Saturday.
Ian Cashin scored the first goal for Hopetoun and many more were to follow in the next 99 minutes.
Graham Cook bagged three and Col Reid added another and quarter time scores were Hopetoun 6.4, Rainbow 1.0.
Hopetoun we're doing it relatively easy as Geoff Burdett took some great marks at centre half forward.
Col Poulton was still in top form in the centre and Laurie Poulton was burning on the wing.
Although Rainbow applied quite some pressure on the Hopetoun backs the combination of Daryl Burdett, Bonga Poulton and fullback Keith Robins blocked everything that came their way.
Ross Cook, Col Poulton and big Jim were among the goal kickers in the second quarter.
Half time scores Hopetoun 12.11, Rainbow 1.0
A tally of nine goals from Graham Cook, Tony Hofmaier and Ian Cashin highlighted the third
quarter for Hopetoun. Three quarter time Hopetoun 21.15, Rainbow 2.0.
Rainbow looked a little better in the last quarter when Mckenzie and Grigg managed three goals
to add to their meagre score.
Hopeton handball may have been overdone at times but Ian Cashin and Graham Cooke found many ways of kicking to get another feast of goals. Final scores Hopetoun 29.19, Rainbow 5.5.
On Saturday 41 players took part in the 18 hole stroke event for a trophy donated by Phillip Roberts.
The winner was Jeff Huntington with 80 - 23 - 57 on a count back from G. Hofmaier 78 - 21 - 57, third was Des Robinson with 88 - 29 - 59.
All C grade championship players have completed their three rounds, and the winner is Des Robinson with 102 - 93 - 88 for a total of 283.
It was very difficult to find highlights in an uninteresting game between Hopetoun and Rainbow reserves last Saturday.
Four goals to nil in the first quarter and Todd Rivett’s three goals in the second quarter were the
only highlights to be found in the first half.
Bob Fellows, back in business, bagged five goals for the match. Final score: Hopetoun 13.16,
Rainbow 2.0.
