Secretary Bob Burdett was presented with a Life Membership badge by past President Winston Gould at the opening of the 1996 Hopetoun Bowling Club season.

Gould thanked Burdett for his bowling and organising skills over many years.
Overall, 56 men and ladies competed on opening day, with the men playing triples and the ladies playing pairs.
At the close of play, Annie Mill, John Taylor, and new member of the 1996 season, Kevin Roberts were the winners.

Winston Gould, Les Casey, and Murray Moyle were runners-up.
A barbecue fish dinner organised by the Social Committee was enjoyed by all, as well as an array of cakes and salads.
