Flowers for a cause blooms $4000
Wimmera Hospice Care Auxiliary has raised around $4000 for palliative care through its annual Mother’s Day flower sale at a pop-up stall in Horsham Plaza.

The dedicated group of volunteers spent months preparing for the fundraiser, growing and bunching chrysanthemums with help from local gardeners across Horsham.
Committee president Lea Crammond said the town gardeners also helped them grow flowers throughout the year.
“We’ve been growing chrysanthemums for 12 months and some specialised gardeners through town have been doing the same,” she said.
“We pick them early in the morning, fresh each day, and then bunch them up at one of our members’ garages.”
The funds raised support palliative care patients through a leasing program that provides essential equipment to people receiving care at home, free of charge, across four shires.
“All the money goes directly to palliative care needs,” Ms Crammond said.
“We provide equipment for those palliating at home to keep them comfortable across four shires, including Horsham, Hindmarsh, West Wimmera and Yarriambiack.”
The flower sale ran from Monday to Friday, and due to record sales throughout the week, the group ran out of flowers for Saturday, May 10.
All 22 Auxiliary members were rostered throughout the week to sell, pick, bunch, and prepare the flowers.
“We always feel really encouraged and stunned by how supportive Horsham is as a community,” Ms Crammond added.
“We never feel let down ever.”
She also shared a heartfelt Mother’s Day message: “Hold your parents and grandparents tight with open arms, show them the respect they deserve.”
