Rainbow hosted Warracknabeal on Friday night to kick off round four of the Dimboola and District Tennis Association season.

Playing six women and four men, Rainbow just edged out Warrack in the mixed section, three sets to two.

A strong 9-2 win to Tom Schumann and Rowie Keller over Warrack’s Chris Kellett and Jan Greenwood helped seal this section for Rainbow.

The women’s section was extremely close all night, with scores tied three sets apiece, Warrack’s ladies just edging out Rainbow by nine games.

Jan Greenwood and Lynley Clyne played a great set against Xenia Frenken and Courtney Newton, winning 9-1 to help Warrack take the women’s section.

It was all Rainbow in the men’s, with a convincing four-sets-to-love victory.

Three 9-0 sets saw Rainbow limit Warracknabeal to just two games in the men’s section.

Final scores saw Rainbow record a 4 match points 10 sets and 105 games win over Warracknabeal’s 1 match point 5 sets and 76 games.

Game two was also held on Friday evening when Antwerp hosted close neighbours Jeparit.

Antwerp held off a rather competitive opposition to take all five match points, but Jeparit certainly put up a fight in the men’s and ladies’ sections.

Both were locked at three sets apiece, but a one-game difference in the ladies' section and a seven-game difference in the men's was enough for Antwerp to scrape a victory.

It was the four-sets-to-two win in the mixed section that allowed Antwerp to take the five match points on the night.

In final scores, Antwerp defeated Jeparit 5 match points 10 sets and 118 games to 0 match points 8 sets and 104 games.

The final game of the round saw Dimboola travel to Brim on Saturday.

It was the away team, Dimboola, who had a day out, taking all five match points.

Strong wins to mother-and-son duo Lenny and Breanna Eldridge and father-and-daughter duo Isaac and Milla Eldridge helped Dimboola take the mixed section 4 sets and 50 games to Brim’s 2 sets and 32 games.

Dimboola’s men and ladies dominated their sections, losing only one set for the day, to cruise to a convincing victory.

Final scores saw Dimboola defeat Brim 5 match points 15 sets and 155 games to Brim’s 0 match points 3 sets and 84 games.

With four rounds completed, it is very close at the top of the ladder, with Antwerp, Rainbow, Brim and Dimboola all asserting themselves as finals contenders.
