Free film screening
THE HINDMARSH Shire Council will host a free community screening of the documentary by the CALD Community Voices – Shared Table: Regional Heroes at the Nhill Memorial Community Centre on Friday, March 20.

The film premiered in early December last year in Melbourne to a crowd of almost 200 people and explores the lives of Karen (Myanmar), Hazara (Afghanistan), and Nepalese migrants who have made their homes in regional Victoria.
Documentary director, Nandita Chakraborty said, “In a world marked by division, ‘Shared Table - Regional Heroes’ brings people together through food, conversation, and listening, centring voices from the Nhill Karen community, Dimboola, Shepparton, and Gippsland.”
“By sharing the stories of those who nourish us, 'Shared Table' gives them visibility and reminds us that it is our shared responsibility to shape a modern table – where meals and voices come together in connection.”
Light refreshments will be provided after the screening, with an opportunity for attendees to chat and reflect on the film.
Bookings are not required, but if you have any queries, please contact the Hindmarsh Community Wellbeing Team on (03) 5391 4444 or by email at community@hindmarsh.vic.gov.au
